Dear Mr. Shepard,
Please do not take this as an insult, but I play your music while playing hardcore online first-person shooter games. A strange combination of adrenaline-rush and heart-slowing, I admit.
In any case, your music is beautiful and it calms the heart so well. I can only hope you continue to produce such art and that the world still sees a huge place for this.
Best of luck and regards,
Deegrin~

Hi,
I was feeling discouraged today and decided to play Music Catch 2 again just to relax. While doing that, I decided I’d love to find sheet music for the 3 pieces you used there and hear more work by you, so I Googled you up. I was surprised to find your album names came from Bible verses and the one you posted for this album was particularly helpful to me at the moment. Interesting how I choose game over God when I’m upset, but God chases after me instead through your music =P
Thank you! And keep up the good work! Music Catch 1 + 2 are listed as top 10 web games of 2008 and 2009, respectively, on the site I follow =)

@Sanghyuk Kim, thanks! I recorded Swept Away on my Pramberger JP-52 upright studio piano. I don’t know much about Steinbach pianos, but the two most important things about any piano, in my opinion, are: 1. you enjoy playing it and 2. you think it has a nice sound. If you like your piano, it doesn’t really matter what anyone else thinks about it.
Thanks for writing!

After listening to all you’re songs I was sad to find I only had enough to buy one Album. It’s my goal to buy each one now. You’re music is incredible. In my opinion, it’s much better than Mozart or any other composer that has ever done a piano solo.

Your music warms my heart. They are stunning and shall never be forgotten!
I love all of them in General, Especially Gentle, Before Dawn, and Fleeting moments, that of which I am learning my hardest to play on the piano! I can’t wait to hear your next piece of music!

I think part of the memories never fade sheet music is incorrect. At measure 72 instead of continuing the arpeggio it goes into the whole note. But it doesnt when you play it on the album. Im going off of the album music since you say you arnt the best at sheet music but you play it right.

It is a while ago now that I heard ‘Before Dawn’ for the first time. Then, it was in a flash game of somebody who liked the music also very much.
I really liked the music also, so I went on search for more music, and stumbled across the sheet music of Before Dawn.
I’m playing Marimba, so I think I’m going to try playing it. Thank you =). You make really beautiful music.

You know, I have been looking for music like this for about 5 years now. Nothing was as peaceful & breathtaking as your music Isaac. I can’t believe how beautiful it is. I have never been taught piano but I have been in love with the instrument since i was very young. So I try to teach myself. I am 16 and I guess I can play by ear for God has blessed me greatly as He has blessed you too Isaac.
And to Cidney, I think Don gave great advice. If you really love piano and music there are always ways to learn it without a teacher. I don’t recognize notes myself, but i’ll get to that one day hopefully.
Comment from Don
Time: September 26, 2009, 10:51 am
Cidney: I didn’t say anything callous to you in my comment. I just suggested that you should learn to read sheet music as it’s a valuable skill. If you teach yourself, use the internet as a resource and learn to read music by yourself. There are plenty of resources. Eventually, you’ll be able to read music easily.
You didn’t have to be unkind.

Hello Judith! I believe you can purchase the physical CD from either CD Baby (http://cdbaby.com/cd/isaacshepard) or from Amazon.de (imported) and have it shipped to Germany. If the reason you don’t want the download version is because you want better sound quality, keep in mind that I also offer FLAC files as well as MP3 files when you buy the download version from the website. FLAC files are much bigger, but they are “lossless”, which means that the audio quality is as good as the original recording. Either way, I hope you enjoy the music… and thanks for writing!

Greetings,
you’re a genius. I’ve just bought today the Swept Away, after i bought the Deep Joy in this week. I love your songs. Especially the ‘Sprinkle to Rain’. Near 3:15 – 3:45 i heard some false notes, but i think that was conscious. Could you provide the sheets for that song? Anyway i like the dynamic of the song, the chords, the idea behind the song. It’s a master piece.

Incredible music. The game it accompanies does it no justice really
but I admit that through it I had the opportunity to make acquaintance with your music. I am no musician at all, far from it, but I found myself attracted to playing that silly game which I actually didn’t enjoy, again and again, until it dawned on me that it is your music that I went back to. Hello,
Before I heard your song Before Dawn, I was hiding from music. Prior to my leave from the piano I was forced to play music crafted by the hands of Bach and Liszt. Not only did it make me feel ancient and out-of-date, but all together awful. I left the 18th century and also the keyboard. But after playing Music Catch on Kongregate I realized that the piano is not an ancient instrument, but a tool to create modern music. Suddenly I wanted to make music again! Thanks for being my inspiration to play music.
And when I play this song for my friends, it kicks the wind out of them.

And now to my request, could you please record a video of yourself playing before dawn and post it on youtube, i really want to see the master play it!
And i really think that by posting videos of your songs on youtube would really help publicity. I for one would love to see Walt’s Waltz (aswell as before dawn)

Hello
Before Dawn is so beautiful and relaxing. I really like this song and you have to know that it´s not easy to impress me. Also I am a german and olny 14 years old.
I bought your album from amazon.com to support you so you can write more beautiful music for all your friends. But I´m so sad that this album arrives in Germany in one month. I want it earlier!!!
But I have to thank you one more time
Ernest.

You’re an inspiration, after listening to before dawn, I’ve never wanted to get back to taking up piano (after abandoning it many years ago) more. I guess you’ve somewhat re lit the passion I had for the piano.
Thank you for that.

I LOVE it and I’m going to try to learn it. Thank you soo much for the downloadable version of “Before Dawn”! It’s so beautiful!!!

Before Dawn… ah, that song is amazing, its very calming and half-way through, its very energetic. I love it, I would love to download the sheet for it, and attempt to learn it, I’m not that great of a pianist, but just listening to this song, makes me seem like its possible. Anyways enough with me… Great song, amazing talent you have there, and thank you for sharing it with everyone.
