Music for “Airport Mania: First Flight,” a new casual game by Reflexive Entertainment
On April 14, 2008, Reflexive Entertainment released a new, whimsical casual game called Airport Mania: First Flight, and I am very honored to have been able to compose and perform all of the music for the game. This is the first PC and Mac downloadable game that I have written music for.
Airport Mania is a click-management game that puts you in charge of directing traffic for all of the cartoon airplanes that fill the sky. The game is actually quite simple, but can certainly be challenging. You must act as the air traffic controller to land planes, have them unload their passengers, perform maintenance, refuel, and schedule them for takeoff, all before the planes become unhappy. Each airport has multiple stages. Between stages you have a chance to upgrade your airport and purchase new items. When all of the stages are complete, you move on to a more advanced airport. ![]()
Creating the music for the game was quite fun. The main theme used on the title and menu screens is meant to be dynamic and dramatic, getting you ready for your upcoming adventure. Since each airport has a different visual theme (country airport, beach airport, city airport, etc.), the light-hearted music was tailored to fit the theme, creating a unique experience.
Airport Mania: First Flight is a game for all ages. Make sure to check it out, especially if you are in desperate need of a big smile!
